Paper Balloon work in primary schools and with organisations supporting the development of children through literacy, storytelling and story-making programmes and projects that build and improve literacy, self-confidence, self-expression, communication skills and enrich the imagination.
Paper Balloon’s professional artists and theatre practitioners integrate drama, music and speaking and listening along with creative writing to create holistic workshops which can be applied to a diverse range of subjects with a focus on literacy, the humanities and personal/social learning.
Why story?
Children use narrative to make sense of the world around them. We find that by engaging with and creating stories, young people can enhance their understanding of an enormous range of topics.
Schools who have worked with Paper Balloon on our projects acknowledge its value in raising attainment, specifically in literacy and language, but also in the wider context as children become more confident in learning and achieving. We all learn differently: visually, through sound, through movement.PB uses a variety of techniques to enhance understanding. With a holistic approach to learning, children are encouraged to be creative, take risks and try new things.
We are passionate about using theatrical arts in education. All of Paper Balloon's artistic team have considerable experience running workshops for theatre companies and schools. We are able to tailor workshops to suit ability and situation. We specialisE in running workshops for young people, aged between 3 and 18.
