FAIRWAYS PRIMARY SCHOOL - PUPIL VOICE
In the summer term of 2010, PB teamed (through ROH Creative Partnerships) with Fairways Primary School to address the question: “How can we develop ‘Pupil Voice’ and, thereby inform teachers’ practise, within the school using performing arts?”
Working with two year groups, PB linked with the history curriculum for each class, with Year 4 on the Egyptians and Year 3 on the Romans. Using stories both factual and mythological as starting points, PB explored these worlds using storytelling through body and movement, music and soundscapes, pictures and storyboards, and structures and patterns.
“Thank you so much for making last term really enjoyable. All your hard work is much appreciated by teachers, kids and parents. The kids loved the sessions with you both and got loads out of it. So did we and it really enhanced their understanding of our Roman topic and gave us plenty of ideas for future activities. I sincerely hope that we get the chance to collaborate with you all again on another adventure!”
