MUSICIAN – MALE or FEMALE
Paper Balloon Theatre are seeking a musician/performer for our Christmas show ‘Once Upon a Snowflake’. Paper Balloon create original, innovative theatre for young people and their families. Our work fuses physical theatre, movement, live music and puppetry to tell new stories. ‘Once Upon a Snowflake’ was first developed in 2014, touring England and later on to Moscow where it received sell out performances. Created by the company, in collaboration with Trikster Theatre’s Maria Litvinova it has since played Christmas residencies at Pegasus Theatre Oxford, and Chelsea Theatre. This year we are seeking a new cast for this production, playing in Folkestone through December. Dates: Rehearsals (London): Monday 2nd December – Friday 6th December Production Week (Folkestone): Tuesday 10th December – Thursday 12th December Performances (Folkestone): Friday 13th December – Tuesday 24th December (All dates are inclusive and non negotiable, 15th and 18th December are days off) Role: Dimitri (male or female) is a Field Musician, despatched from the Royal Spriteological Society in order to solve the Mystery of the Vanished Girl. He/she is diligent, capable and frequently more in control than his/her two haphazard Spriteologist partners. He/she provides musical accompaniment and sound effects throughout the Investigation on a number of instruments, occasionally improvising and taking control of the situation. Skills:
Fee: Fixed fee of £1,880, inclusive of rehearsals & performances. The fee is also inclusive of PDs. Accommodation will be provided in Folkestone in a shared house with private room. Travel to Folkestone will be in company van. Please note we are unable to offer accommodation or travel for rehearsals in London. Audition Details: Friday 27th September, 3pm - 6pm (you will be given a time slot within this) London venue This will be a musical audition followed by informal interview with the Artistic Director and Musical Director. There will be a piano available in the room. There will also be an element of improvisation – just be prepared to play with us! Unfortunately we are unable to cover travel expenses for the audition.
