Paper Balloon seek a BAMER theatre maker to observe and participate in their creative practice, with a view to future collaboration.
Paper Balloon is a company inspired to make original devised theatre for children and families with a strong emphasis on live music and puppetry. We are ambitious and strive to make work with the highest possible production values that is both striking in its design, fun in its execution and has something for parents and children alike. Paper Balloon are currently working on a remake of their popular show The Boy and the Mermaid which will tour to 18 venues in London and the UK in Spring 2019. The project is funded by Arts Council England with support from our partner venues Pegasus and artsdepot. You can find out more about the company on our website www.paperballoon.org.uk You would be invited to meet and work closely with the company over three days of rehearsals and show previews. You will be asked to evaluate your experience and write a blog on the process of devising work for young audiences, available through the company website and your own if applicable. This is a paid opportunity with a fixed fee of £360 (3 days @ £120) plus a contribution to travel. Rehearsals will take place at artsdepot, London from 4th-8th Feb 2019 (2 days attendance to be agreed with AD) Production Week and Preview Shows at Pegasus, Oxford from 13th-15th Feb 2019 (1 day attendance to be agreed with AD) To apply please send an expression of interest telling us why you would like to work with Paper Balloon (no more than a side of A4) together with your C.V.
